At the time of this video, Ed is currently one week out from the Mr. Universe bodybuilding contest in New Jersey.
Ed talks about the importance of:
- lowering sodium
- eating food – not just taking supplements
- drinking water and cutting water
- lowering carbs
You don’t just have to be a competitive bodybuilder to apply these techniques. You can apply them to a photo shoot, trip to the beach or if you just want to get into your all time best shape.
You’ll need to have focus, determination and desire to make your way through this week. You’ll need to shrug off temptations, acknowledge and dismiss any negative emotions and understand that reaching your goal is the most important thing. Think Schwarzenegger, Zane, Yates and Coleman. They, and thousands of others, have successfully completed the last week.
You can do it.
The questions are “Where do you want to go?” “What do you want to accomplish?”

My friend, Joe Vitale stood at the table. With a black marker in his hand, he put a dot on a big whiteboard on the wall.
“You are here”, he said.
He told the group that the whiteboard was like a map at the mall where all the stores are listed and a little box says “You are here” to give you your bearings.
“Where do you want to go from here?”, Joe asked.
“Up”, someone said.
“Up off the whiteboard itself”, someone else said.
“This is all good.” Joe said. “You all want to move up. You want more success, more results and more wealth. Right?”
They all agreed.
Joe then put another dot on the board, way up at the top of it, and circled it.
“That represents where you want to go, ” Joe said.
He then asked the key question: “How do you go from where you are to where you want to be?”
The group was quiet for a moment, but then again began saying things like “Take a straight line” and “Do one thing at a time” and “Make more sales calls” and so on.
“That’s all good,” Joe said. “Those are all practical answers. But I want you to think in terms of the movie, “The Secret”. “I’m going to tell you what I think is the greatest secret to manifesting whatever you want.”
They were quiet, not sure where Joe was going with all of this.
“Does anyone want to know what the secret is?”, Joe asked.
They all burst out laughing. They definitely wanted to know.
Joe pointed at the first “You are here” dot and said ,”The secret to getting what you want is to totally appreciate this moment. When you are grateful for this moment, then whatever is next for you will bubble up out of this moment. You’ll be inspired to take action of some sort. That will lead you up. But the only way to get to the upper dot is to live in this dot with gratitude.”
I’M TOTALLY SATISFIED, I JUST WANT MORE

You’ve heard Arnold say it before.
Be grateful for what you have, but want more.
Spend time thinking about what you really want. Is it:
- more muscle?
- to get shredded?
- to be Mr Universe?
If you want it bad enough, with enough focus and determination, you can have it.
UPDATE! Ed Brown, Jr placed 5th in the Mr Universe out of 13 of the highest ranked amateurs in the world. The next weekend, Ed placed 2nd at the Branch Warren Classic and has re-qualified for the Mr Universe in 2015. Currently Ed is right back at it, in the gym, training, believing…staying hungry.
