About a week ago I told you guys I’d be recording my spending and holding onto my receipts in hopes of being able to track my spending and stick to a $100 budget. As soon as I wrote that post is when I started taking all this seriously. I did screw up a couple of times and there was no excuse. Since I’ll be showing you my receipts though for September keep in mind it is OVER BUDGET because I didn’t start budgeting until about a week ago. So this is where I stand: I have enough food to last me another month at least and that includes all of my dry stores, emergency canned beans and tuna. To summarize this entire post at the end I will analyze my spending and decide on what I can and cannot buy going forward. It will be limited regardless since my trainer just wants me doing a lean bulk anyway. He said “eat until you are full”. I may see some results but at this point the goal is to keep the fat off as long as possible while eating as healthily and cheaply as possible.
Here’s the spreadsheet:
As you guys and gals can see, I failed this challenge horribly IF we consider the entire month of September. Besides a couple of impulse purchases and excluding the powdered protein I’ve bought (add $60) this is what my typical body building month looks like. The price would have been cheaper If I wasn’t cutting for half of the month of September.
Since it’s already October you guys should know that I have not spent any money on any groceries and I’m going to manage with what I have for the next month at least. Then at that point I’ll have to purchase some form of protein. If you noticed, I purchased 12 pounds of rice haha. I’ll be good on carbs for a while!
So the real challenge won’t begin until early or Mid-November to stay under a budget of $100. I’m currently thinking about lowering my budget even further down to $50. I’m going to use the powders I have left sparingly and use them as my last resort for protein.
As I’ve mentioned before. NO more organic foods. You can see how I stocked up on the cheapest organics before I got real with myself and said I need to budget like a broke man (because I am) while still being as healthy as possible. When the time comes I’ll just be keeping an eye out for all of the sales. ALL of them.
So now we’ll get to find out whether or not you can body build on a $50 dollar a month budget.
